2008 Fall Forum on Governance

Radical Shifts: Governing Ahead of the Curve

New York City, November 7–9, 2008

About the Program:

The 2008 Fall Forum addressed radical shifts that had occurred in the world. How did changes in communications, politics, cultural policy, the economy and other sectors impact theatre? How did theatres “stay ahead of the curve;” and how did they prepare to operate in an environment of constant, radical change?

The keynote address, which took place only three days after the 2008 Presidential Election, was delivered by Mark Halperin, an Editor-at-Large and Senior Political Analyst for Time; Political Analyst for ABC News; and the author of The Undecided Voter’s Guide to the Next President: Who the Candidates Are, Where They Come From, and How You Can Choose. Discussion topics included: Turbulent Times: Steering Through Today's Crisis, Exploring New Strategies for Arts Coverage, Philanthropic Giving in Troubled Economies, Articulating Our Value in Critical Times and Diversity, among others. This gathering brought together 185 participants.
