Alan Schneider Director Award
Guidelines & Applications
The purpose of the award is to identify exceptional mid-career freelance directors whose talent has been demonstrated through work in specific regions, but who may not be well known nationally. Nominees must be freelance mid-career theatre directors with a commitment to work in the not-for profit professional theatre. Nominees must be able to illustrate a history of continual freelance work as a director. For artists who hold full-time positions within artistic organizations, nominees must be able to show their commitment to freelance directing.
- Nominees will be asked to submit application materials and two letters of recommendation.
- The application process will require that the nominee have two letters of recommendation submitted on their behalf. The letter must address why the nominee is a strong candidate for the Alan Schneider Director Award. Recommenders MUST submit their letters directly to TCG by emailing a PDF file to email@example.com. Recommendations must be submitted by the recommender, not the nominee.
- The application from the nominee, the letters of recommendation and the original nomination form will be forwarded to a preliminary selection panel. The panel will select finalists to be interviewed in New York.
- Panelists will consider each applicant’s talent, professional experience and potential for future excellence.
