Invitation to the Party
I’ve been a fan of Donna’s work since she was at the Public Theater and brought to life George Wolfe’s vision for an audience that truly reflected New York City. The success of the Public’s Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk
and its subsequent Broadway transfer and national tour was largely due to her ability to bring in younger and diverse audiences — and she was the first one to use church fans with the show’s logo as a give-away. She has been in the vanguard of marketing specialists who think about the value of deep and long-lasting partnerships with diverse communities and infuse that into their plans. Her “Ten Tools for Building Audiences” and case studies provide practical and usable tools that can be applied by those working in any arts organizations. Her passion, commitment and enthusiasm for this work is inspiring and authentic. This is a book to keep on your desk in hand’s reach and not on the shelf!
