August Wilson Century Cycle Box Set
Playwright August Wilson passed away in October 2005, shortly after completing his ten-play cycle on African American life in the twentieth century. In Wilson’s epic dramatization, each decade has a play, almost all of which are set in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, where he grew up. This extraordinary work has been called “one of the most ambitious dramatic projects ever undertaken” (New York Times).
It was always Wilson’s dream to have his life’s work published in a collection of hardcover editions, and he first talked to us about the possible publication in early 2005 when Radio Golf, the last play in the cycle was in production at Yale Rep. Two years after he passed away, the ten-volume Century Cycle was published in a slipcase edition.
