Supporting TCG is the most efficient and far-reaching way to give to the American not-for-profit theatre field.
Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for the American theatre, exists to strengthen, nurture and promote the professional not-for-profit American theatre. Founded in 1961 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization our constituency has grown from a handful of groundbreaking theatres to nearly 700 member theatres and affiliate organizations and more than 12,000 individuals nationwide. Yet our mission remains as important today as it was in the beginning.
At TCG, individual donors make up roughly 25% of our annual contributed income and we are proud to report that over 86% of our income goes directly to programs and services for the field.
TCG serves theatre communities that exist on the local, national and international level. Our members are major contributors to the American theatre sector, which employs more than 131,000 people, produces over 202,000 performances each year and contributes $1.9 billion to the US economy annually. Our programs seek to increase the organizational efficiency of our member theatres, cultivate and celebrate the artistic talent and achievements of the field, and promote a larger public understanding of and appreciation for the theatre.
Your fully tax-deductible contribution helps us to enhance programming and services that further our mission to strengthen, nurture and promote the professional not-for-profit American theatre.
Each year, our activities are supported through a variety of means, including tax-deductible personal contributions in support of our ongoing work to keep the national theatre community connected and strong. Learn more.

Members must be on the board of a TCG-member theatre, and are nominated by their home theatre. National Council members are asked to make an annual minimum contribution of $5,000. Learn more.
