Create a Working PDF from Quark 6.0 Files
Quark 6 has made it simple to export high-resolution PDFs directly from the application. When your ad layout is complete and all fonts are loaded, go to File and then choose Export > Layout as PDF... Follow the Snapshots below.
Before exporting your file as PDF, make sure you Preflight your document. All color scans and illustrated files must be converted to GRAYSCALE for b/w ads and CMYK for color ads first in Adobe Photoshop. NO SPOT, NO PANTONE AND NO RGB. For Quark users, please export your document as PDF/x-1a






If your ad is black/white, choose Grayscale.
If your ad is 4-color, choose CMYK.
No crop marks, no bleed marks, no registration marks, no color bars, no page information, and no job slug. Bleed Option: If you are submitting a full page ad (8.25" x 10.875") with bleed, you will need to include the .25" bleed. Please make sure you use the correct template. Please name your file following the format below. at - monthyear - your organization name (all in lowercases) (i.e. at-oct06-orlando shakes or at-julyaug06-shakespeare theatre or at-jan07-shakespeare new jersey).
If you are advertising more than one ad within an issue, please indicate on the filename. (i.e. at-oct06-north carolina design and at-oct06- north carolina drama).
