MUHLENBERG COLLEGE'S Theatre & Dance Department is hiring a Guest Artist Costume Designer on a year-long contract, for the 2014-2015 academic year. The Guest Artist Costume Designer would be paid approximately $36,000 - $39,000 per year (with additional funding to cover the travel from New York or Philadelphia and housing on campus when necessary). The responsibilities include: designing 3 of our major productions and teaching 1 costume design class per year. This Guest Artist would design, assist in the builds of the productions she/he designs, help hire and mentor additional designers, teach, and mentor students in the department. The Theatre & Dance Department has 14 full time faculty offering liberal arts degrees in Dance (performance, teaching, choreography, dance therapy, physical therapy, and arts management) or Theatre (design/technology, stage management, acting, or performance studies concentration), The department produces an extensive academic season including 6 mainstage theatre productions and 3 major dance events. The Department mounts productions in a state of the art facility with three theaters and a large, well-equipped costume shop with natural light. The full-time costume shop staff includes a costume shop manager and two full-time seamstresses. Requirements: MFA in theatrical design, undergraduate teaching experience strongly preferred, experience in design and construction of costumes.
