Dine-A-Rounds

Wondering what to do with yourself on the Friday night of the conference? Why not sign up for a Dine-A-Round? These informal, "Dutch-treat" events are hosted by local theatre companies - you can join other conference registrants at specially selected restaurants for good food, good conversation, and a great taste of Baltimore. Get all the info at the conference registration table, or (better yet) at www.tcg.org/myconference (where you can sign up online by adding it to your personal myConference schedule!) We’ve just launched a whole new online interface for everything conference! Create your own schedule, sign up for artist workshops, add profile information, and view and message other conference attendees. New Conference Scholarships Announced!

Thanks to funding recently supplied by the National Endowment for the Arts, we are able to provide registration fees as well as travel and lodging for up to ten independent theatre artists who would not otherwise be able to attend the conference. Deadline to apply: May, 4, 2009. Check out our scholarship nomination page for details. (updated 4/23/09)

Jeanette Winterson to speak at the 2009 TCG Pre-Conference in Washington, DC.

Celebrated author Jeanette Winterson will speak at the 2009 TCG Pre-Conference, ACTivate Change, in Washington, DC on June 3rd.  The author of Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, Winterson is the recipient of numerous literary awards as well as the BAFTA Award for Best Drama.  She frequently writes and speaks about the importance and power of the arts in society, most notably in her book of essays, Art Objects. Jo Carson to lead workshop at 2009 National Conference.

Award-winning playwright and community artist Jo Carson has signed on to lead a hands-on story-telling workshop at the 2009 National Conference. Combining ancient spiritual beliefs with cutting edge science, the event promises to change the way you think about your own stories, and—in a widening circle—how you think about what happens when the house gets dark and the lights come up onstage. TCG Award Nomination Deadline Extended to March 18!

TCG has extended the deadline to submit nominations for the TCG Awards which will be presented this June during the National Conference in Baltimore. Each TCG member theatre is urged to nominate one honoree in each award category. Check out our Awards page for Award descriptions, past winners, and the nomination form.(updated 3/9/09)

Bill T. Jones to participate in "Conversations with Anne"

Internationally renowned dancer, choreographer, artistic director and 2007 Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones has agreed to appear with Anne Bogart at the 2009 TCG National Conference. The pair will appear as part of the highly anticipated “Conversations with Anne” in which the acclaimed director talks about life, art, and performance with individuals who have shaped the arts and artistry in America for the past twenty-five years.
