2012 TCG National Conference - Pre-Conference

Exploring the Intersections: Theatres, Universities & Training Programs

TCG’s 2012 Pre-Conference, entitled “Exploring the Intersections: Theatres, Universities & Training Programs” was originally designed to be a day-long session for up to 150 people on Wednesday, June 20. Given the great amount of interest and overall excitement about this subject, TCG has decided to integrate the Pre-Conference discussions into the Conference programming, and therefore not have a separate Pre-Conference. This integration in programming will allow for more theatre people to be included in the conversations, share models that are working and address key issues surrounding the relationship between theatre training programs and theatres around the country.

Leading up to, during and after the conference, attendees will explore how to build an academic and professional theatre relationship that works. How can the work of a theatre connect meaningfully to the curriculum of a university? How can we best share resources and work together to produce new work? We’ll also explore how theatres are finding ways to create their own training programs and integrate ensemble work into the process. We hope to provide an inclusive forum for universities, theatres, individual artists and students to share the challenges, opportunities and best practices inherent to these structures.
