Strategic Financial Planning: Tools for Assessing and Addressing Risk

TCG, in partnership with the Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF), is pleased to provide Strategic Financial Planning: Tools for Assessing and Addressing Risk, a FREE workshop for Fall Forum on Governance participants on November 6. This workshop is designed for not-for-profit theatres and will engage senior staff and trustees in a discussion about the financial realities of meeting their missions during an economic crisis. Using real world examples, NFF will offer interactive exercises to enhance staff’s understanding of the interplay between financial risk, revenue reliability and fixed costs. We will also discuss how this information can be used to make better planning and decision-making.
When: Friday, November 6, 1:00pm-4:00pm
Where: Desmond Tutu Center, 180 10th Avenue at 20th Street
Admission: FREE for registrants of the Fall Forum on Governance (limit of 2 participants per theatre)

Strategic Financial Planning: Tools for Assessing and Addressing Risk
This practical symposium offers not-for-profit leaders the insight, tools and guidance they need to lead their organizations during this challenging time. Topics covered include:
How the current market environment will affect not-for-profits;
The role of the managing leader and the board in leading the organization through a downturn;
Recognizing the hidden opportunities to strengthen the organization’s standing;
Strategies for assessing and addressing risk;
Revenue and expense considerations;
Cash flow management and managing credit;
Practical scenario planning and modeling: how to develop smart, strategic responses.
The goal of this workshop is not to make not-for-profit leaders into financial experts, but rather to help them develop and use financial information to make informed (and often difficult) decisions and to better communicate with supporters, funders and board members.
