Theatre-makers tell stories, but too often, their own stories — the victories, heartbreaks, spectacular hilarity and transformational moments — go untold. To celebrate TCG's 50th anniversary, and continue our mission to strengthen, nurture and promote not-for-profit theatre, we're launching a global initiative to spotlight the stories of theatre practitioners in their own words: I AM THEATRE.

TCG is creating an interactive digital timeline that will chronicle the development of the not-for-profit professional theatre field in the US, concentrating on the last 50 years. The timeline will contextualize the history of TCG and its member theatres with American theatrical and cultural history. The timeline will launch in spring 2012.

Visit this section of our website each week for our web special book offer and to follow the story of TCG and the American theatre's last 50 years through these featured books.

TCG has partnered with The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC and WQXR to present four events featuring conversations with TCG authors and featured artists at The Greene Space in New York City.  The evenings will be part of The Greene Space initiative “A New Theatre in Sound” series made possible, in part, through the generous support of the Sidney E. Frank Foundation.  The events will kick off October 2011 and run through May 2012.
