One of America’s greatest man of letters, Thornton Wilder (1897-1975) was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for drama (Our Town, 1938 and The Skin of Our Teeth, 1943) and fiction (The Bridge of San Luis Rey, 1928). Wilder’s Our Town is the most produced play in American history, with a performance occurring at least once per day somewhere around the country. In 1997, the centennial of Wilder’s birth, TCG published the first volume of the beloved playwright’s collected short works in an edition edited by his nephew, Tappan Wilder. A second volume was subsequently published, and TCG is currently working with Tappan on a collection of all Thornton Wilder’s adaptations and translations for the stage.
