Eligibility Requirements
The purpose of the award is to identify exceptional mid-career freelance directors whose talent has been demonstrated through work in specific regions, but who are not known nationally.
- Nominees must be freelance mid-career theatre artists with a commitment to work in the not-for profit professional theatre.
- Nominees may not be employed as artistic director at a theatre.
- In addition, the panelists will consider each applicant’s talent, professional experience and potential for future excellence.
Selection Process
- Artistic leaders of TCG member theatres nominate individuals for this award.
- Nominees will subsequently be asked to submit application materials and two letters of recommendation.
- The application from the nominee, the letters of recommendation and the original nomination form will be forwarded to a preliminary selection panel, which will select finalists to be interviewed in New York.
- The 2007 Schneider recipient will receive the award at TCG's National Conference in Minneapolis in June 2007 .
