Association of Performing Arts Presenters Accepting Applications for Cultural Exchange Fund

The Association of Performing Arts Presenters’ Cultural Exchange Fund is an international travel subsidy program supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that assists professionals within the presenting field to build partnerships and collaborations. The program is designed to help expand presenting and touring opportunities in the U.S. for deserving international work, and support long-term development projects, residencies and commissions. All current members of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters are eligible to apply. The awards will provide up to $2,000 each.

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Awards Major Gifts

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation awarded $175,000 to the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and $170,000 to the George Street Playhouse.

The James Irvine Foundation Awards Major Gifts

The James Irvine Foundation awarded the following major gifts:

  • $750,000 to the Center Theatre Group to explore new strategies for developing and producing new work, and for attracting and engaging diverse audiences
  • $750,000 to the Old Globe to implement the “Southeastern San Diego Residency Project” to serve as an artistic resource for students and residents
  • $300,000 to TheatreWorks for the expansion of the musical development program “New Works Initiative”
  • $200,000 to the California Shakespeare Theater for “New Works/New Communities”, a collaborative, community-driven program for creating new plays and engaging diverse communities
  • $150,000 to Magic Theatre to support the development and presentation of new works of theatre under new artistic leadership

Philadelphia Theatre Initiative Awards Major Gifts

The Philadelphia Theatre Initiative awarded the Arden Theatre Company $110,000 to produce the American regional theatre premiere of John Caird’s adaptation of Candide; $110,000 to the People’s Light and Theater Company to produce the local premiere of Ellen Mclaughlin’s adaptation of Aeschylus’ The Persians; and $110,000 to the Wilma Theater to produce the second American production of Scorched by Wajdi Mouwad.
