Donald Robertson has no mates and he isn’t funny. But with guidance from his new mentor Gary, he hopes that this is all about to change. Donald Robertson Is Not A Stand Up Comedian is a darkly comic coming of age story that explores the need to belong and deconstructs the brutal role that humour can play in society.
Gary McNair writes, directs and performs work for the theatre. His shows have been performed across the UK and translated and toured internationally. His last show to visit the Traverse, Born To Run, was nominated for the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award and his 2010 show How Soon Is Nigh? was the winner of the Arches Platform 18 Award For New Work. Other writing credits include Sports Day (Citizens Theatre), The Coldest Show On Earth (Edinburgh International Science Festival), Count Me In (National Theatre of Scotland), Flipside (Trigger) and Crunch (Oran mor).
