“Obisesan’s insistently vivid text has a startling emotional authenticity... terse, evocative bullet-force brevity. Urgent, gripping and real.” -- The Times

“Finely observed... a tangy, confident piece... taut and assured.” -- Evening Standard

“Stunning new play... Obisesan’s passion for language is a joy to experience.” -- The Scotsman

“This should be required viewing for every teenager in the capital.” -- Whatsonstage.com

A timely, urgent, razor-sharp drama about a teenage boy fighting to save his reputation, torn between the influence of his family, his friends and his school.

Questioning where responsibility lies, Mad About the Boy explores the growing divide between the generations who gave, those who earned, and those who demand respect.

Gbolahan Obisesan is a writer and director. His plays have been staged at the Soho Theatre, the Young Vic, the Unicorn and the Bush Theatre, amongst others. He won the 2009 Jerwood Directors' Award at the Young Vic.
