Based on interviews of repatriated Mexican migrant women, this fictionalized story reveals the challanges faced by four women walking north through the Arizona desert and their inner journeys when confronted with magical stories of their personal lives as told by an Indigenuous member of their party from Chiapas, Mexico.
From Producing Director Barclay Goldsmith
The play was inspired by interviews of 134 migrant women in a Nogales, Mexico shelter in an effort to document the intersection of migration forces north to the Mexico/U.S. border with the counter forces of U.S. immgration policies. The play gives voice to these voiceless women, now 38% of border crossers and who face increasing dangers, often at the risk of their lives.
