At the end of 1999, ITI-U.S. and Theatre Communications Group (TCG) consolidated operations and became one organization. In 2016, TCG shared leadership of ITI-U.S. with the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics (the Lab) as part of the Global Theater Initiative.
ITI-U.S. assists international theatre professionals and scholars by providing information about American theatre practice, introductions to American theatre professionals, and help in planning productive and appropriate visits to the U.S. Advice, information, and contacts are similarly offered to American theatre professionals traveling and working abroad. ITI-U.S. may be reached at iti@tcg.org.
The ITI-U.S. library, a major collection documenting contemporary international theatre from nearly 150 countries in 100 different languages, including a large Theatre of Latin America collection, was transferred to the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in January 2002. The collection, now named the International Theatre Institute/Martha W. Coigney Collection, is available to the public. Contact the Performing Arts Library for more information: theatrediv@nypl.org or (212) 870-1639.
