Strasberg at the Actor's Studio
First published in 1965 and edited by Robert Hethmon, Strasberg at the Actors Studio is based on tape recordings of Lee Strasberg’s (1901-1982) legendary classes in the 1950s. In his preface, actor Burgess Meredith reveals that Strasberg’s method taught him that “the best way to solve problems is to shut up and think.” Celebrated for developing “the Method,” the distinctively American adaptation of Stanislavski’s acting techniques, Strasberg trained several generations of theatre and film’s most illustrious talents including Julie Harris, Dustin Hoffman, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Jane Fonda, Paul Newman and Al Pacino. His widow, Anna Strasberg continues the training in both New York and Los Angeles.
