TCG Programs for Trustees
The following are some of TCG’s programs for engaging Member Theatres’ trustees.
Trustee Leadership Network
TCG believes that trustees provide an indispensable link between not-for-profit theatres and our national organization. If you are a trustee at one of our Member Theatres, you are eligible for membership at the yearly rate of $100. The insight and support of our Trustee Leadership Network members help make TCG an increasingly vital and vibrant service organization, and we hope to have you join.
By becoming a part of our Trustee Leadership Network, you’ll receive all the benefits of being an Individual Member of TCG, learn more about the field, get the chance to connect with other trustees and theatre leaders across the country through the TCG Circle and our national convenings, and play an important role in helping us best serve the needs of your theatre and the greater theatrical community.
Please click here to join the Network. If you have any questions, please contact Membership Associate Lauren Sullivan at lsullivan@tcg.org.
The National Council for the American Theatre
Comprised of leading trustees from Member Theatres from across the country, the National Council for the American Theatre guides TCG’s programs on governance and board development and serves as a “brain trust” for the organization. Members are nominated by the artistic or managing leadership of their theatres, and must make a financial commitment to TCG (a minimum of $6,500 annually) without compromising their giving to their home theatre. The National Council meets three times yearly, including an annual meeting with TCG’s board of directors in New York. Members are invited to participate in TCG committees, grant selection panels and/or advisory groups, and host a trustee breakfast at the annual National Conference. Members are invited to all TCG events, workshops, and conferences. The chair of the National Council is Judy Rubin, trustee at Playwrights Horizons and former TCG board member. For information on joining the National Council, please contact TCG’s deputy director, Adrian Budhu, at abudhu@tcg.org.
TCG Fall Forum on Governance
TCG holds an annual conference in New York City which focuses on board governance and the role of trustees in fostering the kind of organizational culture that leads to healthy theatres. The Fall Forum allows theatre trustees, professionals, artists, and others to forge connections, objectively explore and examine field-wide issues, and develop practical tools for their work. Over the years, the Fall Forum has focused on strategic planning, capitalization, activism, art-making, fundraising, leadership, and more. Visit the events section of the TCG website for information about the TCG Fall Forum on Governance and see the TCG Fall Forum on Governance Archive for information and resources from past Forums.
TCG National Conference
As the largest annual gathering of theatre people in the country, the TCG National Conference is an opportunity to see old friends, make new connections, and engage in frank discussions with peers and expert presenters. Join this essential gathering of diverse theatre-makers from across our country—and world—for model sharing, knowledge exchange, and great local performances celebrating the Portland theatre scene. For questions regarding the Conference, email Devon Berkshire at dberkshire@tcg.org. More information will be released in the events section of the TCG website as it becomes available.
