The National Theatre Governance Task Force
The Charge of the Task Force
TCG is working to provide current resources and tools to better equip theatre trustees, and to that end has created a National Theatre Governance Task Force comprised of trustees from twelve theatres from across the country. This Task Force is leading the process of re-envisioning and updating the book The Art of Governance: Boards in The Performing Arts, which TCG published in 2005. In conjunction with TCG, the Task Force conducted a short survey among trustees to identify topical information associated with Board efficacy, and preferred modes of communicating such information. Results from the survey have been documented in this Game-Changing Governance Survey Report (PDF).
The Game-Changing Governance Skills-Building Session at TCG's 2015 National Conference
Created by TCG’s National Theatre Governance Task Force, this skills-building session was designed to empower attendees with strategies and tactics to build high-performing boards at their theatres. Based on TCG’s 2015 survey of trustees and theatre leaders, this session explored how to engage the full potential of board members, creating a board of vision, leadership, and action. This session was a participatory experience, and engaged attendees in envisioning new resources and services from TCG as the Task Force updates The Art of Governance – TCG’s seminal book on governance – to meet the needs of a new era of board service. Materials and notes from this session can be found on Conference 2.0.
